What CELPIP is used for
Most people take CELPIP for one of three reasons: a permanent-residence application (where language scores contribute points), a citizenship application (which has a much lower language requirement), or a professional or regulatory body that asks for proof of English ability. Which version you take, and the level you need, depends entirely on which of those applies to you.
- Permanent residence / Express Entry: the full four-skill CELPIP-General.
- Canadian citizenship: CELPIP-General LS (Listening and Speaking) is enough.
- Professional or licensing requirements: check the level the body asks for.
