CELPIP test format
CELPIP-General is a computer-delivered English test that measures Reading, Listening, Writing, and Speaking in a single sitting. Knowing the shape of each section — how many parts it has and how long you get — helps you plan realistic practice instead of guessing.

Each skill is scored on its own, so a strong result in one section does not offset a weaker one. The Reading and Listening figures below are scored questions; unscored content may also appear. Use the table to see how many parts or tasks each section has and how much time you get, then match your practice to the real timing.

Unlike some tests, CELPIP-General is taken entirely on a computer in a single sitting with no separate speaking session. You type your Writing responses and record your Speaking responses into a microphone — there is no separate interview on another day. Practising on screen, with the clock visible, is the closest thing to test conditions.

Reading and Listening are question-based, so accuracy and time management matter most. Writing and Speaking are task-based, so organization, relevance to the prompt, and clear delivery matter more than length. Prepare each skill in the way its format rewards, rather than studying all four the same way.
